Manly Beach Running Club have only been running in Manly for 4 months but already we have a core group of runners of around 30 early morning warriors ! … Numbers are building rapidly so the club is set to expand this number to 50 or 60 runners in the next couple of months.
Manly Beach Running Club runner of the month for January was Toni-Anne who had a fantastic start to 2013. Toni-Anne has been running consistently 4 or 5 times a week since the start of the year and is seeing some enormous improvements in her fitness and overall running ability. Toni-Anne is training for the Canberra 50km ultra marathon in April and she is already hitting distances around 21kms very comfortably and with plenty left in the tank. There is no doubt that with a few more long runs up around the high 30s, she is going to smash the 50kms in a couple of months time ! 🙂
It’s also worth mentioning our Superstar Anita Hobbs who completed not only her first 10kms but also her first ever half marathon in the last 2 months. Anita has said she is unsure whether she will go for the Sydney marathon in September but Coach and Ultra Runner Joe Ward believes it’s only a matter of time before Anita conquers the marathon distance.
Other news is the confirmation of the clubs new sponsor. I am proud to announce that Pacific Coast Eco Bananas will be sponsoring the club and have committed to providing some free tasty post race snacks on a regular basis. This is a huge result for the club but also a great partnership, showing both organisations dedication to a healthy, active lifestyle, ECO BANANA POWER !! 🙂
