
With over 15 years of coaching expertise, Joe Ward is the founder, owner and Head Coach of Manly Beach Running Club and Shelly Swim Club, transforming more than 500 runners into marathon and ultra marathon powerhouses.
His coaching prowess extends internationally, preparing athletes for marathons and ultra’s including Berlin, London, Tokyo, New York, Boston, Chicago, and Sydney, to name just a few notable locations.
Not just a running coach, Joe is an accomplished ultra runner with first place finishes including GNW 100 miles (2018), Australia 24 hr Invitational (2020), Sri Chinmoy 12-hour (2021 and 2022), and Coast to Kosci (2021 inclement weather CR). He has competed for Australia in both the Asia and Oceania Championships in Bangalore (2022) and the 24 Hour World Championships in Taipei (2023) and he is a 2 x Australian National Champion (Coburg 2023 and Sri Chinmoy 2025).

2023 – IAU 24 HR World Championships Taipei – Member of the Australian National Men’s Team – 5th in the World
2023 – Aussie 24 HR Invitational – 2nd place & A Qualifier – 240kms – Qualified for World Champs Team
2023 – Coburg 24HR Aus National Championship – 1st place – 230kms – Awarded National Champion title and VIC 24HR Track Champion
2022 – Melbourne Marathon – 2:54 (Current Marathon PB) – 3rd sub-3-hour marathon
